Lions Club of Colombo Continental Ambassadors – Installation Ceremony


Some beginnings are not announced with words…

they are quietly lit into existence.


On the 31st of January, at MaRadha Hotel, we came together not just to witness an installation…

but to light the path for something meaningful.


As the ceremonial oil lamp was lit, flame by flame, it felt like more than tradition.

It felt like intention.


A quiet promise.

A shared responsibility.

A beginning.


In that moment, surrounded by leaders, mentors, and fellow members of the Lions Club of Colombo Continental Ambassadors, I found myself reflecting on what this truly meant.


Because this wasn’t just a formal gathering.


It was a transition into service, into leadership, into something greater than ourselves.


Guided by our sponsor club, Lions Club of Colombo Continental Excellence, the ceremony was graced by distinguished leaders whose presence added depth and significance to the occasion.


Our Chief Guests, Lion Gaya Upasena and Lion Shyana Jayalath, stood as powerful reminders that leadership is lived through action, service, and commitment.


Our Guest of Honour, Lion Chamindu Abeywickrama, brought with him a legacy of service that continues to inspire.


Yet beyond the structure…

what stayed with me was the feeling.


Standing there, witnessing the light grow brighter with each flame, I realized:


Leadership is not something we step into overnight.

It is something we grow into with awareness, with humility, and with purpose.


I stood there as a Director and Assistant Secretary,

but also as a woman who understands that service is not defined by position…


It is defined by intention.


This moment felt grounding.

Real.

And deeply personal.


Because just like that lamp,

each of us carries a light 

and when brought together, it becomes something far more powerful.


This is not just the beginning of a club.


It is the beginning of impact.

Of connection.

Of purposeful action.


And I am honoured to be part of this journey —

one that has just been lit,

but will continue to shine far beyond this moment.
