A Moment That Meant More Than an Award

 Sustainable Women Achiever Award 2026

On the 30th of March 2026, at the prestigious BMICH, I found myself surrounded by an extraordinary gathering of leaders, visionaries, and changemakers each contributing, in their own way, to a more sustainable and compassionate world. The occasion formed part of the Sustainability Multi-Stakeholders International Summit 2026, where purpose-driven voices came together to create meaningful impact.

I was deeply humbled to be honored as a Sustainable Women Achiever – International Awardee 2026

Adding to this special moment, our team was also recognized with the Highest Service Award as collaborative participants representing the Lions Club of Colombo Continental Ambassadors and the SDG Women Platform Sri Lanka. This recognition carried a deeper meaning it reflected not only individual effort, but the strength of collective purpose, shared vision, and service rooted in impact.

This recognition is far more than a title. It reflects a journey one shaped by purpose, strengthened by resilience, and guided by an unwavering commitment to values. It carries within it every challenge faced, every doubt overcome, and every decision made with intention. There were moments of uncertainty, times when the path felt heavy, and days when clarity seemed distant. Yet through it all, one truth remained constant the desire to create something meaningful, something that truly serves.

Lighting the traditional oil lamp during the ceremony became one of the most profound moments of the evening. It was more than a ritual; it felt deeply symbolic a quiet acknowledgment of light. The light we strive to bring into the world through our work, our choices, and our purpose. In that moment, I felt deeply connected to my roots, my journey, and everything that led me there.

What I felt most, however, was gratitude. Gratitude for the journey that shaped me, for the challenges that strengthened me, and for the people who believed in me even before I fully believed in myself. Because this recognition is not mine alone; it belongs to every experience, every lesson, and every individual who became part of this path. It also belongs to the communities and teams that stand together, proving that true impact is never created alone.

This award is not an ending. It is a reminder to continue building with integrity, to lead with compassion, and to remain committed to sustainability not just as a concept, but as a way of life. It is a call to keep moving forward with purpose, clarity, and responsibility.

Some achievements are celebrated outwardly, while others are felt quietly within. This moment was both a recognition to be shared, and a reflection to be held close.

“When your work is rooted in purpose, recognition becomes a responsibility not a destination.”

With gratitude and grace,
